Receiving credit on return

Customer service
Overstock uses third party sellers who require return shipping to be paid by the customer and it can be very expensive. They do not readily post this on their site at the point of sale and despite my appeal to them Overstock will not help defray the cost of my return because it is in good condition!
When I called to identify how to return it since no directions are sent. I was told since it came from a third party vendor none of the return of $100 would be paid unless it was broken. The company is ripping off customers by using third party companies who won't pay the return shipping. I have to pay $100 return cost for a $300 chandelier that does not fit in my space.
If it was broken they would pay it ? How does that help me? I wonder how many people are not honest and break the item just to get the shipping back for free. So sorry for me.
Again the return policy does not match Overstock return policy in general and is not readily visible on their web site. I would have never purchased this if I knew it I had to pay the shipping back.
So many of the other sites I use do provide free shipping back to return. I will not be using Overstock again for purchased no matter the price since their customer service people did not wish to help me even a little !!!

Scam artist
I placed an order on 5/12/23. All went well.
Today I decided to go into my account and I noticed that my credit card was kept I file. I tried to take it off and it wouldnt allow me so I called customer service. She tells me that it cannot be done that is stays on there for a minimum of 4 yrs so I asked her to close out my account. She first said she couldnt and then she says she will sent me a link to cancel my account.
I follow the prompts to close account thinking Im good. An hour later I get an email telling me that they cant close out my account for a minimum of 4 yrs for tax purposes. I get a second email asking me to take a survey about my experience with customer service so I figure great I will give them a terrible review. After I hit submit it took me to the website and I noticed that there were 2 items in my cart.
I click on the cart and see 2 items totaling 1700.00. Which I never put in my cart. Now I know I am in trouble.
I had to call my credit card company and have them cancel the card and issue a block from anything overstock ever tries to place on my account. This company is so gross.

Charged for something I didnt order. Return fee is rediculous. Never will I purchase anything from Overstock!!!

For at least the second time spanning years, initiations of unauthorized charges have necessitated cancelling a credit card number and reissuing.

On the 8th of April you email me to say that that you had refunded my money to my card. As of today, my bank still has not received it.
I am trying to locate my funds. Please advise me as to the status of my money.
User's recommendation: Overstock has no problem charging promptly charging your account for a purchase, but It appear that they have no incentive to refund your payment when you cancel a purchase.I will really think long and hard before dealing with this company in the future.
Adding Reviews on Overstock is cumbersome
Ordered a Chaise and I received two set of arms but not the Chaise(having four arms with the missing body of the Chaise is hilarious now that the ordeal is over). I did a chat with Overstock and told them that the order should not show as being delivered when I did not get the complete order yet.
I had to end the chat because the Bloke was not listening. I ring Overstock and spoke to a young lady. I repeated the same information at least 10X, and she did not understand the situation. For my sanity, I had to end the call.
I looked at the shipping paperwork and contacted the Company that shipped the Chaise. The Lady told me two boxes were delivered, so I needed to ring Overstock for any further issues. I phoned back the same Company, received another young lady. She took the time to listen, and it was discovered that I received a double of the same arms, but not the Chaise.
She resolved the delivery mayhem in less than two hours, and in three days I received all the parts to put the Chaise together. I wrote a review on Overstock and gave it a 4* but discussed the experience so that others would know what they may go through.
Overstock did not post it because they want review on only the product and not the experience as well. I feel that Overstock just want pretty reviews because typically the product itself is not bad, it is the poor experience that comes with the product that people should also be aware of in order to make the decisionn to buy or not to buy..

Verified ReviewerI submitted the tax exemption certificate as required but did not get my tax back. I was told by an agent that someone would contact me in 48 hours but no one did.
They have a lot of talk but NO action to compliment the talk. Until they make me whole I will never recommend or buy anything from them again.

Verified ReviewerDamaged 1,250$ product not getting help from customer service
I have been dealing with a nightmare with a table and I am getting nowhere with customer service . I finally get my 1200$+ dining table set slammed down on my driveway I wait for my floors in the house to be laid down and built the table last week only to find one chair is missing the threads to screw the screws in and the table top is completely scratched on one side.
I work at a 911 center long hours and hardly have time to call customer service repeatedly or deal with this.
I will be contacting corporate or better business bureau if I have too next I want to cry my table is not what I expected and I dont have 1200 to just throw around for damaged products Im not rich. I would hope their company would at least refund me some of the money for the hassle because now I have to sand and spray paint the tabletop to hide the scratches and I have to go ask Home Depot to help me find the threads to insert in this chair.

$53 to return Two pillows that didnt look anything like the picture.
Each pillow is $44 so shipping is more than what one of them is worth.
When I purchased the pillows it said free shipping for returns.
Then they're telling me that if I pay for shipping, I should buy insurance on it, and pay for a tracking number to track it, and that they might charge me fees when they receive the package, that wasnt taken out of the original package, I just did a little slit in the shipping package to see if it was the right pillow and it wasnt.
They have a location right near my home and they wont allow me to drop it off there, to avoid shipping costs.
I bought the same brand of pillows same size and everything for only $25 each at HomeGoods.
Walmart had the same pillow that I wanted and they also had the barcode that originally came on the pillow, which made it easy to find, but they were out of stock and they were only selling it for $35

No directions
I ordered this bookcase for my great-grandson for Christmas, it was too small so they gave it to me for my house. I opened it and no directions.
I called customer service and because of the time for which I ordered it they wouldnt request directions (from China). I didnt ask for a refund, only directions.
